ACPUA has attended the online session organised by the international network INQAAHE entitled ‘Assuring the quality of professions: the role and responsibilities of accreditation agencies’ in which different speakers from Germany, USA, Indonesia and South Africa took part, being chaired by Dr. Sylvia Demas (Namibia), member of the organisation's Committee.
An interesting debate was generated on the relationship of the agencies with the different interest groups when dealing with the evaluative task: the links with the labour market, the links with the communities and international standards. The issue of how agencies are responsible for the quality assurance of discipline-specific programmes and the regulation of professional licensing has been addressed. In addition, issues such as the scope, creation and maintenance of standards and best practices, professional credential recognition practices and links to jurisdictional quality assurance practices have been discussed.
The aim of these seminars is to improve knowledge and share transnational ideas on practical issues affecting university quality agencies, as a way to be aware of different forms of management and innovation that contribute to the improvement of day-to-day work.
ACPUA, as a member aligned to the GGPs (Guidelines and Best Practices) of INQQAHE, participates in these trainings in order to learn from international experiences that help to improve the Aragonese University System, SUA, which is its main purpose.
