Since the start of this academic year 2021-2022, virtual meetings of both directors and technicians of the Spanish Network of University Quality Agencies (REACU) have been very frequent. During the previous academic year REACU has systematically made contributions and comments to the various drafts of the reform of the legal framework of Spanish university quality, with the beginning of this academic year REACU is holding working meetings to analyze and comment on the application and development of the new RR.DD. 640/2021 (creation of universities and institutional accreditation of centers) and 822/2021 (organization of university education and quality assurance). Specifically, these new regulations have focused the attention of the Spanish agencies at the REACU plenary meetings of September 13th and 21st and October 18th.
This work on the development and application of the new regulations will continue at a high rate in the coming weeks, given that the legislator expressly entrusts the agencies with the development of different protocols and common evaluation criteria in such crucial aspects for the quality of the Spanish university system as institutional monitoring and reaccreditation, the types of teaching modalities (on-site, virtual, hybrid) or the procedures for the verification and modification of degrees. The ACPUA actively participates in these tasks.
